Paulinho hasn't made much of an impact at the World Cup so far while Fernandinho burst onto the scene in the second half against Cameroon. Here's why the latter should be starting.

Neymar has dazzled in the spotlight and carried Brazil through to the next round of the World Cup as group winners. You have no choice but to pick out the 22 year-old because in truth, he’s been their talisman and the one who regularly provides a bit of magic in attack. In fact, one may even suggest that for long periods in games, Brazil’s play has been laborious and lacking a distinct edge. Much of that is down to their engine room.
Luiz Gustavo has anchored the midfield superbly, providing stability to go along with his simplistic yet effective distribution. He keeps things ticking over and is always where he needs to be. The problem lies with his midfield partner Paulinho. The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has bags of energy and can run all day but on the ball, he’s been ineffective and uninspiring.
